You wake up late, which causes the whole morning to be thrown off. Then you spill your coffee everywhere, or the kid throws up all over the clothes you just put on him. You head to work and the day continues to be a wreck. You want to call it quits and crawl in a hole.

I have had a few of these days, but lately it feels never ending. It constantly seems like it is one thing after another. There are currently five light bulbs out in our house, we both need an oil change, h just had to to get the window on his truck fixed because it wouldn’t roll down, our sprinkler system had something wrong with it, and then I needed a new set of tires. Just when you think we can see the light, something else breaks.

Being happy is sometimes easier said than done, especially when you are a worrier like me. I tend to overthink a lot, and usually my overthinking and worrying comes from a place of fear of the unknown. But over time, I have learned how to change my mindset. I still have times when I doubt myself and my abilities but there is always room to grow!

Granted, we are very blessed. We both have great jobs, the perfect house, vehicles, and food on our table. I know that, in reality, that is all that we need. It is human for us to get frustrated with the simple things in life but I have learned a few things to help me stay positive when things aren’t going our way.

  1. pray: always. there is nothing that is sent our way that we can’t handle.
  2. remember that good things are coming your way. it just may not be on your time schedule.
  3. refocus on what is important. stop looking at the negative things and focus on the positives.
  4. you can’t feel selfish putting your own happiness first.
  5. deal with negative people positively or just remove them period.
  6. be present and don’t worry about the future. i am totally guilty of this especially this time of year.
  7. be grateful for what you have.
  8. do more, say less. stop complaining about everything that is going wrong and do something about it.
  9. get active. go for a walk or do something to take your mind off of things.
  10. we are in control of what we put into our minds. make the choice to think positive!

I went back and forth on what blog post to publish today, this one or kb’s room. Funny the way life works because, as I was typing this, the washer overflowed and is now broke. I couldn’t make this up if I tried.
