Becoming a parent can be intimidating and asking other people what they think you need is not the best way to get answers. I have compiled a list of all of the “extras” that you don’t necessarily need but things that we actually used quite often. We got a lot of use out of the things on this list and you may too. I understand that everything works differently for everyone, so I am just relaying the message on what worked best for us!
bathtub: the easiest tub. he lived in it until he could roll out of it. the holes made it so easy to drain and water didn’t get stuck in all the little hidden places!
swing: y’all, news flash. you don’t need the $400 version of this swing. this one works just fine and he spent many days obsessed with the little things on top.
fan: this was such a life saver at hot football games and any outside events. we could connect it to the car seat or the stroller. it is battery operated so it made the set up even easier!
sleepsuit: kb was a master of getting out of a swaddle from day one. we got this and, although he looked like a stuffed Michelin man every night, he slept so well in it!
high chair: one thing I learned quickly about baby products is to get things that are easy to clean. that was my number one request with a high chair. this one is so easy to wipe down and if we had to, it could easily be taken outside and hosed down.
dockatot: this was actually given to us and I am so thankful. I couldn’t bring myself to spend that kind of money on a pillow, but looking back, I would in a heartbeat.
jumpscape: kb had so much fun in this thing. plus, we had a blast watching this little ball of chunkiness jump up and down and giggle to himself.
bottles: I debated putting this in here because so many people have to find the bottles that work for them and their baby. these are the first ones that we tried and luckily he never had any issues with them. I personally loved the way they felt and how easy they were to clean.
drying rack: definitely something that we used often to hang bottles and other things on when you quickly wash them and don’t want to dry them.
sippy cups: I LOVE these because they can’t spill. and also because my child pretty much refused any other sippy cup that we gave him. don’t even ask me how our bottle to cup transition is going. #momfail
boppy: my mom gifted us this gem at one of my showers and what a life saver it was! he spent many days hanging out here but it also worked so well for tummy time!
bottle warmer: something that you could probably go without, but it does make rewarming the bottles late at night so much easier. we used this up until he turned one and went to regular milk.
bottle sterilizer: LOVE this too. such an easy and quick way to make sure your bottles are extra clean. we used this thing so much that we broke it.
diaper pail: h was adamant about not having one of these so I didn’t register for one. i tried to explain to him that he would be making many trips to the dumpster outside if we didn’t have one. luckily, someone gave us one and saved the day!
nose frieda: okay at first glance this thing looks disgusting and I was very confused on how worked. but this thing has been a life saver and so far has been the best tool to clear up his nose. we still use it to this day. he definitely hates it but it gets the job done.
bumbo seat: another little tool to hep keep him in place. once he started sitting up we busted out this thing. we would throw some toys in front of him and he would play for a good hour before he got bored.
carseat cover: loved this for when he was little. it kept the strangers away and I loved having it for when he was asleep in his carseat. it also came in handy to use as shade at football games or other events. I would attach the fan and cover him up and it was like his own little chilled room.
diaper changing station: so handy and we still use it almost 18 months in. it is easy to carry everything and has its own little pad attached.
backpack: the best diaper bag I have ever had. it has room for everything and I love the hands-free opportunity that the backpack gives you.
