So you scroll instagram day after day and wonder how girls put together these fabulous looks. Better yet, you wonder how they AFFORD to always look so stylish. News flash, you don’t have to break the bank to achieve that outfit you love. Being stylish can mean something different to each individual person. One girl can love to dress in color and one loves a monochromatic, neutral look. Taking your “style” and making it your own can bring your game to a whole new level.
When people ask me how I create looks or how I am able to constantly post something new, I give them a few little hints about how to be stylish on a budget.
- buy the basics first, they will be the foundation of your wardrobe.
- if you really want a trendy item (ie: tiedye) buy just a few so you don’t have a closet full of pieces that you won’t wear again.
- when buying items that are pricier such as jeans, make sure to invest in a really good pair.
- pay attention to the quality of materials that they are made from. you want them to last!
- don’t overpay. y’all, i have a closet full of clothes but i can tell you that there is probably a handful of items that i paid full price for.
- the best time to buy is during end of season sales. you may have to wait longer to wear them, but saving all of that money is worth it!
- if you see a designer item, chances are there is a “look alike” that is cheaper and looks just the same somewhere else for half the price.
- use the “if you can’t stop thinking about it, then buy it method.” I know that sounds silly but it works. if you cannot stop thinking about it, it is probably something you will wear often.
- like mentioned above, if you are unsure about an item, leave it. you can come back later and purchase it if it something you can’t stop thinking about. if it is gone when you come back, it wasn’t meant to be anyways!
- and finally, shop your closet. chances are you can recreate that look you love with items that are already in your closet!
Achieving the look you want doesn’t have to be hard or expensive! Take these tips, add in a little creativity, and you will have the closet of your dreams!
