If you follow along on my instagram, you saw that I had the privilege of attending the Texas High School Coaches Association Convention, otherwise known as Coaching School. This year a record was set with almost 14,000 coaches all in one place and I was very impressed with the organization and how smooth things went. The lines for registration were short and pre-registration made our wait time even shorter.
H and I like to play this game when we are out and about called “Do you think he is a coach?” We always joke that you can spot a coach from a mile away because they are always in some kind of gear like a t-shirt and shorts. Well, you didn’t have to play that game for three days. Everywhere you looked there was a man in a polo with some kind of logo. I did play a game with myself to see if I could guess what school they were from…
After we got done with registration and checked into the hotel, we made a lap through the exhibits and I totally geeked out. It was so cool to see all the different equipment and supplies that a school can purchase to improve their program. They had everything from scoreboards all the way down to socks with customized logos. Pretty sure H regretted bringing me after I purchased too many coach’s wife shirts and some fun things for KB. Shout out to Jordan Harrell from Friday Night Wives and Emily Poynter from OnPoynt Designs for the cutest game day looks!
There is an opportunity for wives of coaches to join the Texas Coaches Wives Association by paying a membership fee. This membership allows us to access different vendors as well as some different opportunities for fellowship. This past year I have really enjoyed connecting with other coach’s wives (hince the blog) and getting to know them around the state and even the country. In the future, I hope to get more involved with this association and the events that they provide.
Over the course of the three days, H was able to listen to some really great speakers and coaches at the high school and college level. He really enjoys getting to listen to successful coaches from across the state. He is always interested in how certain things work in some places that don’t work for others. Schools send their staffs to coaching school to become better coaches. The THSCA does an excellent job of providing these opportunities for growth.
It was a great last vacation of the summer before two-a-days start in a week and a half. We will no doubt be back next year so see you soon San Antonio!
