Arizona Travel Guide

January 25, 2021

A few weeks ago I mentioned that we took a little trip to Arizona to celebrate the hubs birthday. It was a day full of golf and everything he loves but I wanted to highlight some of my favorite things! Save this for later in case you want to visit for yourself in the future! I know we will definitely be making another trip back. You can even join us!

Where to stay

Scottsdale! We personally stayed in Phoenix and I wished I would have known. We spent everyday minus one in Scottsdale and there was just so much to do! Scottsdale is known as the world’s finest golf destination. With over 200 courses, luxury resorts, and beautiful weather, you can’t go wrong.

What to do

Golf. (what we went there for) H played at Scottsdale Silverado Golf Club and The Foothills Golf Club. Each of them had different vibes so it was nice to get a taste of both relaxation and beautiful scenery. Scottsdale Silverado was in town, had gorgeous views, and was more of a country club vibe. The Foothills was actually in what I would call the “desert.” It was outside of town and I kind of felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. It was really cool because that is what we pictured Arizona to be like.

Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall. Somehow I was able to drag H for a little shopping and I was in awe. A beautiful mall with high end designers mixed in with your everyday shops! It has over 200 shops, restaurants, and a movie theatre. If you walk across the street there is a waterfront area that has additional shops and restaurants to explore.

Fiesta Bowl Museum. Somehow we stumbled upon this little gem. It is not anything spectacular but if you are a football fanatic like we are, it was neat to see a little bit of history behind the bowl game. The best part is that it is free admission during the week from 8:30-5!

Take a hike. We tackled  Hole in the Rock and the views were gorgeous. Of course we felt like we dominated the Golden Gate Bridge but after doing some research, I realized it was a beginner hike. Go us. If you are up for something a little more challenging, there are a ton of hiking trails that are free!

Old Town Scottsdale. An area full of resorts, restaurants, night life, shopping, and events. You can easily fill up an entire trip with this one stop shop! I can’t wait to go back and explore this area more soon!

Where to Eat

So this is the part that we really stunk at. Usually we hit a vacation with a running list of all the places we want to try. Fun fact: love Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives so we have tried to hit some each place we visit. Well, we didn’t even accomplish this. Golfing everyday means we would grab breakfast at the hotel, grab a snack at the course for lunch. So we actually really even made it to a restaurant for dinner. As we were riding around and googling places to eat, I found that there are so many place to choose from. All kinds of food and just about anywhere you look there was a new to us place to try. One night we ate at the restaurant at the Silvarado Golf Club. It was happy hour for drinks and snacks so we made that a dinner. Here are the list of places that we tried!

The Arrogant Butcher- upscale, stylish steakhouse with a mix of comfort food

Handcut Burgers and Chophouse– hip burger joint meets chop house. steaks and burgers made from locally sourced, grass-fed beef

Bei Sushi Bar– warning you this is nothing fancy. H loves sushi and I will only eat if there is no seafood in it. We always say we are going to try somewhere in Dallas but we felt adventurous. We ended up finding this little hole in the wall restaurant and it was fantastic! We did the sushi happy hour and then split a meal, which was enough to feed probably four people. I got the Spicy Crispy Chicken and now my mouth is watering again just thinking about it.

Hopefully this guide was helpful if you are trying to plan out your trip. I am not a trip advisor but this is what worked for us!
