Friday was H’s birthday and he is the type of guy that loves experiences more than gifts. It has taken me five years of being with him to understand this because I am definitely more of a gift person. So this year I finally nailed it. H loves to golf and gamble and Winstar World Casino and Resort is just an hour and a half away from us, so I booked us two nights to celebrate him!
This was the first time that I was away from KB overnight so we left on Friday and came back on Sunday. My mom and Grandmother watched him and I just knew everything would be fine. We had a blast and it was just what we needed. Ever since having a baby, we haven’t made our relationship a priority. Not in a negative way, but we both know that it is healthy for us to have some time to ourselves and really focus one each other, and that is just what this weekend was.
Friday night I got us tickets to see the band Midland. If you have not seen Midland in concert, YOU NEED TO! I was skeptical because I only knew three of their songs, but there wasn’t a single song they played that I didn’t like. They know how to put on an awesome show. The rest of the weekend we slept in late, ate tons of food, and gambled our lives away. Our original plan was to go golfing but that got nixed when we woke to SNOW Saturday morning so we settled for the movies instead. I love our little boy but I also forgot how much I love my sleep. So taking it easy and just enjoying our time together was at the top of our to-do list. It was the perfect weekend to round out our semi-slow season. In just a few weeks our calendar picks back up again and we hit the ground running with more sporting events.
H, you are the most selfless, caring, patient, person that I could ever ask for. You are an amazing father to our little boy and you are an incredible father figure to your high school boys. I hope that you know how much we love and care about you each and every day. Life is too short to not spend every moment making the person that makes you the happiest happy in return. So I hope that everyday you can find your happiness in us!
