So last week we discussed the start of the pandemic and how it turned everything around., Not only are we going through a major historical event, we had baby number two! I would say that it was an eventful delivery but it wasn’t. Our doctor was very precautious about everything that has been going on and although he never expressed it to us, he was worried about the restrictions they were about to put on the hospital. So with that, we were induced to have him before they didn’t let H in the delivery room with me. I know some people have their opinions about inducement but I would rather have my husband in the room with me and meet his child immediately than wait for him to come on his own.
We brought him home two days later and not only did we have to adjust to two under two but we had to adjust to everyone being home 24/7. We were juggling a newborn, a two-year old and two teachers trying to teach online classes. I was fortunate to keep working throughout this time and it really added some normalcy to our new routine. The hardest part about all of this was not being able to see family and have them meet the baby. I have never really talked about it but we had a scare around four weeks with KB that put him in the hospital for a few days and I wanted to be super careful. Of course, everyone was very understanding that we weren’t willing to take that risk just yet.
I never ever thought that this would last as long as it has. When they were throwing around rumors that we wouldn’t be going back to school, I was naive to think that that really wouldn’t happen. I am so incredibly thankful that we still have jobs and we are some of the few that were not majorly affected financially. With all of that being said, I am very grateful for the extra time we have had as a new family four. Not many people get the chance to spend two and a half months together after bringing a new baby home.
Stay tuned for part three next week!
