Nashville- Part 1

July 9, 2019

Every year H and I try to take a trip with just the two of us. Last year we had one planned but cancelled last minute because I wasn’t quite ready to leave KB. So this year’s trip was much needed. We have been wanting to go to Nashville for a while and I am so glad we did. We were able to have fun and relax, just what we needed.

We landed Tuesday morning at 10 am. We like to fly in really early our first day so that we can get a full day right off the bat. Check in wasn’t until 4 pm that afternoon so we had them hold our bags while we went exploring. We stayed at the Springhill Suites-Downtown and it was perfect for us! We are not people who need anything fancy. Our only requirement is that it has free breakfast because first off its delicious, secondly, it is one less meal that we have to pay for. #myhusbandischeap In all seriousness, the rooms were nice, clean, and their customer service was great!

The first thing we did was visit the Country Music Hall of Fame and we loved it! We are country music lovers, so we really enjoyed all the exhibits documenting the history of country music. I am not a huge Kacey Musgraves fan, but they had a big exhibit dedicated to her and I loved all the fashion that they incorporated.

After the Country Music Hall of Fame we ventured down to Broadway to see what it was all about. The best way to describe it is like Sixth Street in Austin, but take out some of the crazies and it is only country music. On Broadway, it is just bar after bar after bar. Some are four stories high and they have live music on every single one. The best part about this is that they don’t have a cover charge so we would just jump from bar to bar to check out as many as we wanted. We didn’t go to all of them, but we checked out some dive bars, and also some of the more big name bars. It was neat to think that sometimes the stars just pop in. Unfortuantey, we did not run into any of them.

Next, we took a break and walked to the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge. It was so neat to see Nashville’s skyline and downtown from a different view. One of my biggest regrets was not going back at night to see the view. Nonetheless, it was still a really neat experience. From the bridge you could also catch a glimpse of Nissan Stadium, where the Tennessee Titans play.

That evening we made reservations at Pinewood Social to go bowling. I secretly love to bowl, but it isn’t something that we ever go and do. I heard about this neat little place so I got us a spot. It is a restaurant, bar, coffee shop, and bowing alley all in one! Our reservation let us bowl for an hour and a half which is plenty of time for just two people. Their drinks were good, the best bloody mary I have ever had, and we got the fried broccoli as an appetizer and it was out of this world!

After we checked into our hotel we ventured a little further out and went to dinner at Saint Anejo, because you know I can’t go too long without mexican food. I think H was skeptical at first, because he doesn’t trust many mexican food restaurants outside of Texas, but it ended up being so good! It was also a nice change to be at dinner with just the two of us. We missed our little so much, but it was nice to actually have a grown up conversation. After dinner we headed back down to Broadway and hung out as long as our 3:30 am wake up call would let us.

It was a long first day, but full of so much fun! Stay tuned for part 2 on Thursday!
